UTRECHT – De Europese Unie geeft buurlanden 3 keer meer subsidie voor energieprojecten met fossiele brandstoffen dan voor groene-energieprojecten.

Dit stelt CCE Bankwatch Network, een Oost-Europese ngo die investeringen in groen en fossiel in de gaten houdt.

De organisatie keek naar investeringsovereenkomsten tussen Europese instituten en de energiesector van 16 aangrenzende landen van de EU.

In totaal financierde de Europese Unie 9 miljard euro aan energieprojecten bij buurlanden in het oosten en het zuiden tussen 2007 en 2014.

Kredit je namijenjen unapređenju životne sredine Rudarskog basena Kolubara. Na osnovu prigovora koji je uputilo Ekološko društvo Vreoci, interna kontrola u Evropskoj banci utvrdila je da prilikom odobravanja kredita nisu uzeti u obzir svi ekološki aspekti. European Investment Bank ditched reference to 2050 decarbonisation target, says NGO

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has been accused of exaggerating its stepped up commitment to tackling climate change this week, with campaigners accusing it of failing to deliver any real advance on its previous lending strategy.

The NGO CEE Bankwatch Network accused the EIB of scrapping a reference to the EU's 2050 decarbonisation pathway in the new strategy and carrying out a "masterpiece of PR" by making vague new commitments without specific targets.
