Join the funeral procession and mourn the death of the Czech Republic's responsibility for climate change

With sincerest condolences, Bankwatch member groups CDE and Hnutí Duha are organising a service to mourn the death of the Czech Republic's responsibility for climate change. People are invited to a climate wake to grieve the loss of another piece of the Czech landscape and as well the country's responsibility for climate change on Tuesday 6 October at 10:00 in front of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Na Františku 32, Praha 1).

Guests are asked to respect the solemn nature of the event and dress accordingly. Guests will meet at 9:30 at the quarry on Dvořákovo nábřeží near the ministry (look for a big wreath).

While the funeral is a mockery, the government's upcoming deciding to dismantle limits on coal mining is not. Established to protect the landscape of northern Bohemia and locals from the threat of evictions, limits on mining are keeping more than 1.3 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide in the ground that would otherwise be emitted if the coal were to be mined and burned.
